ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 10, 2009) — LAA Board Appoints Executive Director; Elects President and Board Members
Dear LAA Graduates and Community Members —
Recently, the LAA Board of Directors convened to vote on new leadership. We are pleased to announce that we have a new Executive Director, Board President, and Board members.
After a four month search, the Executive Director Search Committee narrowed the applicants down to two well qualified candidates that were presented to the Board of Directors. At our June 2, 2009 meeting, the LAA Board of Directors appointed Interim Executive Director Patrick M. Lee, Jr. as the new Executive Director.
Patrick is a graduate of the Flagship 2002 class. He has served as the Interim Executive Director for Leadership Anne Arundel since August 2008 assisting in the building and stabilization of the organization. In his short time in that position, Patrick worked closely with board committees and staff to revise and improve programs, to increase the number of program applicants, to broaden outreach efforts, and to improve the organization's infrastructure to ensure greater operational efficiency. Patrick also served as President of LAA's Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008, and was the first Board President to be elected to a second one-year term. Finally, Patrick has served on many LAA committees including the Strategic Planning Committee, Program Committee and the Marketing Committee.
We also are proud to announce that Jackie Colestock has been elected to serve as the new Board President for the 2009-2010 program year. "I am looking forward to working with Patrick and our board, both with returning and new members, in continuing to build LAA for the future," said Jackie after her announcement as President. A 1997 graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel's Flagship Program, Jackie has served on a wide range of committees and has been on the LAA Board of Directors since 2001. Jackie is a Landscape Architect, working throughout the Baltimore-Washington region.
Also elected to the board were Glenn Baer, ARINC; Hank Gundlach, Morgan Stanley; and Janice Page, BB&T as new three-year term Board Members effective July 2009. At the June 2, 2009 Board meeting, outgoing President Maura Walden of Johns Hopkins HealthCare was honored for her leadership and dedication during a challenging time of transition. Outgoing Board members Larraine Clark, Bill Todd, Wayne Taylor, and Larry Ulvila, Jr. also were recognized for their dedicated service to Leadership Anne Arundel.
Thank you to the numerous candidates who expressed interest in the Executive Director position and to the Executive Director Search Committee who all demonstrated a clear passion for LAA throughout the entire selection process. "The breadth of talent among the five finalists demanded that the selection process be not only thorough, but also objective," said Bill Todd, member of the Search Committee and the LAA Board of Directors. "In the end, two equally talented candidates, both capable of leading LAA into the future, were recommended to the full Board for consideration. The Board elected to appoint Patrick to lead the organization forward."
The LAA Board of Directors welcomes your feedback to help us ensure future success in the organization. Feel free to contact any of us at any time.
